Shan is a Ph.D. student in Educational Technology at the College of Education, University of Florida. She earned her B.S. in Educational Foundations from the University of Oregon and her Ed.M. from Harvard University. Before entering the Ph.D. program, Shan gained extensive teaching and research experience in elementary education and early childhood education across three countries.
She is particularly interested in using theoretical frameworks to interpret students' interactions with AI-powered tools. Her research focuses on multimodal learning analytics, educational data mining, and AI in education. Shan's recent work explores integrating AI into K-12 education, applying multimodal learning analytics and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze collaborative learning features and affect in STEM+C+ AI education, and developing learner models. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, watching documentaries, and is a big fan of animation!
As a Learning Engineer for VETTING Chat, Shan focuses on designing effective educational interventions to enhance students' short- and long-term cognitive and non-cognitive outcomes.
